One Rupee Commemorative Coins - Part 3 - Stainless Steel Issues

The Index to All Articles is here

This Post is Organized in 3 parts.
Part 1: Cupro-Nickel: 1964 to 1989 Issues
Part 2: Cupro-Nickel: 1990 to 1993 Issues
Part 3: Stainless Steel: 1994 to Now

Part 3: The rising cost of cupro-nickel resulted in the mint adopting Steel for the Rupee coinage for both definitive and commemorative. The edges initially were milled but later were changed to plain edges. The 1994 and 1995 saw both the edges being in use by Mints in Commemorative as well as definitive.

One Rupee, 2010 Platinum Jubilee of Reserve Bank of India, shows the logo of RBI that is described as Tiger, Palm Tree and crest of RBI. The mint details and Description are;

Note: Amongst non-leaders there are only few themes that have multiple issues. The Independence theme that saw Silver Jubilee and 50 Years Golden Jubilee. The other issue being the Reserve Bank of India that saw 50 Years as well as 75 Years.

Interesting: A strange division. Normally when a commemorative is issued, depending on the capacity more than one mint strikes the same issue. Incase of RBI there is an interesting fact, whether this was on purpose or coincidental its for mints to tell. There were 4 coins struck in different denominations and by different mints. IE the Rs 1 was struck only from Hyderabad Mint, the Rs 2 was struck only from Kolkata Mint, the Rs 5 was struck only from Mumbai mint and the Rs 10 was struck only from Noida mint.
